THE CRIMETHINC EX-WORKER'S COLLECTIVE
Crimethinc are a radical political group who believe in cultural subversion through artistic (especially guerilla art) movements, and a complete philosophical reworking of conventional approaches to living. They were founded in the mid '90s and have published several books, and, more characteristically, been involved in many aggressive political and artistic movements.
The Toynbee Tiles were particularly interesting to Crimethinc due to their singular, almost indestructable approach to spreading a message. In their book Receipe for Disaster: An Anarchist Cookbook, they have a long, nine-page article on the Tiles. This article focuses on the physical makeup of the Tiles (rather than the cultural phenomenon,) and give a very impressive, detailed description of how to make them. Crimethinc hopes that Tileing will be a large movement in the coming years.
So detailed is the Receipe For Disaster article that some have speculated Crimethinc might know something about the "new-school" Tiles that they're not letting on. This, due to geographic considerations, is unlikely.
